Waste management

Ever since Abfallwirtschaft und Stadtreinigung Freiburg GmbH (ASF) was established in 1999, it has stood for waste collection, disposal, and city cleaning. The disposal systems aim to continuously reduce general waste in favor of separately collected recyclable materials, and thus find themselves in a constant state of change. Organic waste, packaging, waste paper, waste glass, old electronic appliances, waste wood, and many other types of material are collected separately to best facilitate subsequent recycling. Success stories, such as the lowest amount of general waste and bulky waste in Germany or the 2019 figure of 72 percent of waste being recycled, speak for themselves.
